ABOUT
theLAB is the moniker of producer, composition and experimental artist duo Jay Dawson and Frankie Siragusa. Having produced and collaborated with a number of select US and UK based recording artists, the two bring a heightened level of creativity and innovative curiosity to everything they touch, giving their recordings a genre-pushing sound that blends the best of vintage approach with modern techniques.
Experimentation is truly the essence of theLAB. This methodology comes from a combined experience as diverse as the duo themselves. Jay’s formidable beginning at Extasy Studios in Hollywood, working with indie darlings Abandoned Pools and Lenny Kravitz, gave him the critical knowledge and experience that comes with a major studio. During this time he became enthrawled with the sonic soundscapes of Kevin Shields and Brian Eno. Frankie’s background at the Conservatory of Recording Arts led to his start at Studio 880 in Oakland, where he worked closely with Green Day. Upon relocating to Los Angeles, he quickly identified with Largo favorites: Elliot Smith, Michael Penn and Jon Brion; whose lasting influence became a crutial part of the duo’s foundation.
Since then, theLAB has collaborated on a wide range of projects with labels such as Universal, Lojinx, and Hollywood Records.
